Step 2 – Submit CMDB Request

Once the ISRC registration is underway, begin cataloging the system in ServiceNow so the configuration management database (CMDB) reflects the new application.

Submitting a CMDB ServiceNow Request

Overview

Register the system as a Business Application in ServiceNow. Completing this step keeps the CMDB accurate and signals downstream teams that the application exists.

1. Access the Request Form

Open the Business Application request in ServiceNow: CMDB Business Application Request Form.

2. Complete the Required Details

Provide comprehensive information about the system:

  • System name and description
  • Business owner and technical contact
  • Associated department or team
  • Dependencies or integrations, if applicable

3. Submit for Review

After filling out the form, submit it for processing. You can perform this step in parallel with the ISRC submission.

4. Registration Timeline

Expect 2–3 business days for ServiceNow to register the application in CMDB as a Business Application.

5. Confirmation

Monitor ServiceNow for a confirmation. Once approved, the system appears as an official Business Application within CMDB.
